11 Days Best of Kenya Africa Adventure
(Treetops, Sweetwater’s, Samburu, Mt. Kenya,
Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha, Maasai Mara)
DAY 1: NAIROBI
Arrive at JKIA-Nairobi. Pick up by our courtesy
bus to hotel. Dinner and overnight at the
Nairobi Serena.
DAY 2: NAIROBI – SAMBURU GAME RESERVE
Approximately 343 North East of Nairobi lies the
Samburu and Buffalo Springs National Reserves. A
drive through the Rift Valley and the highlands
takes you to this reserves which are unparallel
in Kenya for the number and diversity of its
game. After lunch, time to relax before heading
out on a game viewing drive. Dinner and
overnight at the Samburu Serena Lodge.
DAY 3: SAMBURU AND BUFFALO SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK
RESERVES
Morning and afternoon game drives are provided.
Among the wildlife are the various antelopes and
all the Big Five (i.e Elephant, Lion, Leopard,
Rhino and Buffalo). All the meals and overnight
at the Samburu Serena Lodge.
DAY 4: SAMBURU – SWEET
WATERS GAME RESERVE After breakfast, depart for Sweetwater’s
Chimpanzee Sanctuary. This Chimp Sanctuary is
the only one of its kind in Kenya. Visitors can
enjoy the unique opportunity of observing the
Chimps by boat on the Ewaso Nyiro River. The
riverine forest and Savannah grasslands of the
Sanctuary are home to 22 orphaned Chimps. Dinner
and overnight at the Sweetwater’s Tented Camp.
DAY 5: SWEETWATERS – ABERDARES NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, depart for Nyeri arriving in
time for lunch. For clients staying at Treetops
lunch is served at the Outspan Hotel and for
those staying at the Ark, lunch is served at the
Aberdare Country Club. After lunch, a transfer
is provided to either Treetops or the Ark, which
are strategically situated for night game
viewing. Dinner and overnight at Treetops/Ark
DAY 6: ABERDARES – MT. KENYA SAFARI CLUB
After breakfast we proceed the few kilometers
north to Mt. Kenya Safari Club, a luxurious
retreat with spectacular views across the
forested slopes to the snow-capped peaks of Mt.
Kenya. Among the activities available within the
grounds of these manicured lawns and ornamental
ponds are – swimming, tennis, golf, bowling,
croquet, trout fishing and game viewing. Lunch,
dinner and overnight at the club. (Remember that
a tie and jacket for the gentlemen and evening
dress for ladies is necessary for dinner at this
exclusive club)
Flamingos at Lake NakuruDAY 7: MT. KENYA – LAKE
NAKURU
After breakfast, proceed to Lake Nakuru arriving
in time for lunch. An afternoon game drive takes
us round the Lake; home of the famous pink
flamingo. Lake Nakuru is truly an
ornithologist’s paradise. Dinner and overnight
at the Lake Nakuru Lodge or Sarova Lion Hill.
Pink Lake often referred so due to it’s Great
masses of Flamingos in good time for lunch.
Lunch at a lodge followed by full afternoon game
drives. Dinner and overnight at Flamimgo Hill
Tented lodge
Lake Nakuru's claim to fame is anchored on its
flamingo's and the over 400 species of birds
found here. The lake itself is a soda lake on
the floor of the rift valley. The sight of the
at times millions of flamingos is quite
spectacular. From a distance the lake appears
ringed in pink. The Lake has also earned a
reputation as an important haven for endangered
species- particularly the Rothschild Giraffe and
the black and white rhino. Lions, waterbuck,
buffalo and baboons are all residents here
DAY 8: LAKE NAKURU – LAKE NAIVAISHA
Awoken by the most natural alarm clock
(birdlife) for breakfast and proceed to Lake
Naivasha which is a fresh water lake and the
highest lake in the Great Rift Valley. You will
have lunch at a convenient point or time.
Proceed to Hell’s Gate National Park, Past
Fischer’s tower. You will visit the Geothermal
Plant and the hot water springs. Have a chance
to see some wildlife and breath taking
landscapes.
Take time this afternoon for a boat cruise on
the lake (paid separately) and a walk on
Crescent Island, which is safe from dangerous
animals. Tonight you will dine and stay over at
the Lake Naivasha Country Club, originally this
hotel hosted the Flying boats. The beautiful
lawns of the club, graced by yellow Fever Trees
run down to the shoreline. Wildlife also
includes Hippo and Waterbuck.
Elephant in the MaraDAY 9: LAKE NAIVASHA –
MAASAI MARA
Awoken by the most natural alarm clock
(birdlife) for breakfast then the unforgettable
journey to Maasai Mara Game Reserve via Narok
and Olkurruk, where the Maasai culture is
displayed by the Oloo Lolo Maasai Cultural
Association and thereafter into the Maasai Mara
Game Reserve. Being the northern stretch of the
world famous Serengeti National park it is the
scene of the teeming wildebeest and Zebra
migration. On arrival relax by the pool.
Afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at
Mara Sopa Lodge.
DAY 10: MAASAI MARA
Morning and afternoon game drives are provided.
Among the wildlife seen are Wildebeest, black
rhino, cheetah, giraffe, elephant, great herds
of antelope and fascinating primates such as the
red-tailed monkey. Game drives in open land
drovers and bush walks with excellent resident
guides and naturalists reveal the wonders of the
Mara in an interpretative experience for you.
All meals and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge.
The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and
abundance that it is difficult to believe: over
450 species of animals have been recorded here.
You will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos,
crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras,
buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs,
buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and
elephant. It is in the Mara that perhaps the
most spectacular event of the natural world
takes place. This is the annual migration of
millions of wildebeest and zebra from the
Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and
pasture. Following on their heels are the
predators of the savanna- lion, cheetah, wild
dog, jackal, hyena and vultures.
DAY 11 : MAASAI MARA - NAIROBIDepart early for Nairobi via Narok and ascend
the escarpment to the central highlands.
A full day is spent in Nairobi with an option
to: -
See traditional dancers at the Bomas of Kenya,
Visit the nearby Nairobi National Park,
Visit the Karen Blixen Museum and the ostrich
farm,
See the animals at the orphanage or
Shop in the bustling metropolis of the city.
After a complimentary lunch we leave in the
evening for the flight back home.
