This 4 day / 3 night Tanzanian safari explores
the world renowned north east corner of
Tanzania. This area boasts the Serengeti Game
Reserve, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara. Although a
short safari itinerary, it does cover some good
distance offers very contrasting areas. The
safari departs from and returns to Arusha.
Day 1 - Arusha to Ngorongoro Crater
The tour starts with lunch in Arusha town at
1230hrs. 1400hrs, Appropriately drive to
Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Dinner and
overnight at the lodge in Ngorongoro Wildlife
Lodge
Ngorongoro Crater, a large, unbroken, unflooded volcanic caldera. The crater,
which formed when a giant volcano exploded and collapsed on itself some two to
three million years ago, is 610 m (2,000 ft) deep and its floor covers 260 km2
(100 sq mi).[5] Estimates of the height of the original volcano range from
fifteen to nineteen thousand feet (4500 to 5800 metres) high
Day 2 - Ngorongoro to Serengeti National Park
Today you will descend 2000 feet (over 600
meters) to the floor of the crater for a half
day crater tour. Explore the forest areas that
are inhabited by monkeys and elephants, the lake
area, where you may see the flamingos and the
open savannah where the lions hunt for food.
Lunch at the lodge. Afternoon drive to Serengeti
National Park via Olduvai Gorge. Dinner and
overnight at the lodge, for a well deserved rest
after and intense day on this African Budget
tour.
Serengeti offers arguably the most scintillating game-viewing in Africa: great
herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands upon
thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grants gazelle.
The spectacle of predator versus prey dominates Tanzanias greatest park.
Golden-maned lion prides feast on the abundance of plain grazers. Solitary
leopards haunt the acacia trees lining the Seronera River, while a high density
of cheetahs prowls the southeastern plains. Almost uniquely, all three African
jackal species occur here, alongside the spotted hyena and a host of more
elusive small predators, ranging from the insectivorous aardwolf to the
beautiful serval cat.
Day 3 Serengeti Full Day
Enjoy a morning game viewing in the endless
plains of the Serengeti for a chance to see the
great herds of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles
or a pride of lions lounging in the shade.
Return to your lodge for lunch, before departing
to Lake Manyara. Dinner and overnight at the
lodge
Day 4 - Serengeti to Lake Manyara and onto
Arusha
After an early breakfast, you will depart for a
morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park
whose inhabitants include hippos, monkeys, tree
climbing lions, flamingos and other varieties of
birdlife. Mid morning, drive back to Arusha.
Lunch at a restaurant in Arusha town.
